Tzav: Removing the Ashes

Teffilin Shalom! And the Kohen shall don his fitted linen tunic…and he shall remove the ashes (Levit. 6:3) When a person sins, he brings a sacrifice and repents, and resolves to be better in the future. It is forbidden to remind a penitent of his past, so removing the ashes from a sacrifice teaches us that a person can start over with no remaining traces of his sin.
